Ipswich – Road rage assault appeal |
||
|
Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault following a road rage incident in Ipswich.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:35pm on Saturday, 1 August, on Ravenswood Avenue, between the driver of a bus and the driver of a grey BMW car.
It was reported that as the bus turned onto the bus lane between Maryon Road and Ravenswood Avenue, a number of cars were initially travelling the wrong way down the lane before reversing back to allow the bus to pass.
As the bus approached a grey car, the driver – a man – called out causing the bus driver to stop. The driver of the car then got out of his vehicle, reportedly shouting and swearing at the bus driver, also a man, before punching him to the face through the open window of the vehicle.
As the bus driver left his vehicle to take the car registration details, it was reported the man punched him to the face again causing him to fall before leaving the scene in his car.
The bus driver was taken to hospital for treatment, having sustained a broken nose, facial lacerations that required stitches as well as further grazes and bruising.
The suspect is described as a man aged in his 40s – 50s, approximately 5ft 4ins tall, with grey curly hair and a grey beard which was trimmed short around his face.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the South CID at Suffolk police, quoting reference: 37/45273/26.
